A/C Related?

Hey guys another question that Im not sure about.

My car when I turn the ac on at times starts to shake. You can feel it shaking from underneath and then the cold air comes on. Sometimes the cold air goes away then it shakes again and the cold air comes back.

Is this something I should be worried about? Its only happened so far when Im parked havent noticed when driving.

Re: A/C Related?

Hey Bumping this thread with an update.

My car now once the ac starts on seems to struggle to stay on.

Edit: some other things ive noticed - engine overheats and the coolant pipe was leaking. Ac isnt cold anymore.

EDIT : CEL is also on since yesterday.

Answering this question for anyone that has this issue in the future.

Both my fans in the engine were dead, so the engine was struggling to stay on due to overheating. I replaced both fans and now my car runs fine and ac is cold. CEL is due to p0420 code = catalyst converter issue. I dont think its a big deal so I just had it cleared for now.

yep lol you should be glad it was that. It could be a number of things from you compressor going dead from low freon and shutting on and off. or it could be that circuit board was dying (because they all do) and it was turning you ac on and off by itself. Which is bad because then it makes your compressor clutch go bad 3x faster. Glad you figured it out though !

You do realize that the system engages and disengages the clutch all the time to keep the evaporator from freezing right? So the clutch going out 3x times faster comment makes no sense.

Re: A/C Related?

i have been into this issue months long. Sorry for reviving this up but just wanna share my experience. I removed an A/C unit out of another prelude except it was EFI and mine is carb. The install went great except one problem and have to plugs that won't mate. Try to adjust the A/C evaporator and it is working well. However then, after weeks of driving guess im still having the problem. let my buddy to the diagnosis and it is showing the error code. the problem has been narrowed down to the radiator.
