Fuel crisis

Hi everyone,

I got a problem, the jdm h22a prelude is drinking more than a v8! Im getting about 400 km or (250) miles out a tank of 60 Litres! wat to check? whats going wrong? start up, white smoke because of cold weather. Valves gone? fuel filter replaced last year, same with sparks with iridiums. Run a injector cleaner through it and see what happens?

Re: Fuel crisis

O2 sensor maybe. if it hasn't been changed in a while (or ever), i would start with that.

Re: Fuel crisis

Work out your actual consumption and get back to us.

IE; next time you fill up, divide the number of litres you were able to put in the tankby the number of km you've travelled on that tank. Something like 40.9/405. This will give you a decimal number (in this case, 0.100987). The consumption figure in this example is 10.09L per 100km. This is about the best you can hope for.

However fuel consumption is effected by many things, tyre pressure, weather, amount of crap in air filter, even country vs. city driving. For example I've noticed when I drive the car mostly, the consumption is around 9.5-10.0L/100km, but if my missus drives it most then it can be as low as 9.0L/100km or as high 14L/100km. Only real difference is the way, areas and times that she drives it as opposed to me.

Re: Fuel crisis

Clean air filter, check tire pressure. Small things that can hurt or improve gas milage that are often overlooked. Any CELs on? Also, I'm pretty sure white smoke means you're running rich, but I dunno for sure. How do your spark plugs look?
