Re: Balance shaft eliminator kit!!!

DD = Daily Driver

The balance shafts and all the components weigh around 22 lbs I believe. That's quite a good chunk of rotating mass you could get rid of. However, you will notice a pretty big increase in vibrations and comfort will be diminished. If it's your DD I wouldn't do it, but that's just me. If you're going to take it to the track all the time and drive it on the streets here and there, then by all means go for it.

Re: Balance shaft eliminator kit!!!

The ONLY way I would do it on my dd is if i had my whole rotating assembly balanced. Theres other ways of getting good power that u can go about before deleting your balance shafts. Read into it more while upgrading other parts of your car, then decide once u have more info. Thats just my .02

Edit: Oh and this is my favorite lil smiley face we have. Just sayin

Re: Balance shaft eliminator kit!!!

EVERY h22 motor that i build i use the kaizenspeed balancer shaft removal kit and never had any issues. Any motor swap or timing belt job i do for h22 and the customer agrees I take the belt for the balancers off.... and NO ONE has complained about ANNOYING vibration or any other complaint. YOU DO FEEL A DIFFERENCE. The balancers were only designed for comfort on the Honda big block they felt it vibrates a little too much with out. UNLIKE MOST PEOPLE WHO SAY NOT TO DO SOMETHING AND NEVER TRIED IT THEMSELVES..... TRY IT. take the belt off.... see if you can feel a difference or if it "vibrates too much".

So it really doesn't change all that much? I've seen people on PO and H-T bitch about it in their DD's. Guess that's what I get for listening to the pussies over at H-T.

Re: Balance shaft eliminator kit!!!

is there any disanvantage to just taking the belt off of the balance shafts? other then of course just having the weight of the shafts still. but ya you know what i mean

Re: Balance shaft eliminator kit!!!

^like your pretty much stating... just dead weight. by taking the belt off you take stress away from the rotating assembly... less things it has to spin, the better. if you do decide to remove completely... it will block an oil passage that feeds the shafts causing higher oil pressure... not a bad thing. When i build a motor i always have it balanced... with the flywheel, pressure plate, clutch, crank gear, and crank pulley with or without the eliminator kit.

thats what i thought. ya if i ever build it i know balancing is a must. specially considering it doesnt cost all the much

ya just curious, cuz i'm changing my timing belt out here pretty soon.
so then anything special? or jist leave that belt off and call it good?

Re: Balance shaft eliminator kit!!!

If you're gonna take the belt off, you might as well follow through and do the whole thing. The Kaizenspeed kit is only like $130 or something.

Re: Balance shaft eliminator kit!!!

you mean kaizenspeed lol.... sorry you spelled it wrong for someone who is related.

well... sure you can spend 130 on the kit...but then are you going to install it?? you do have to drop the pan and the girdle to completely install the kit. or you can just leave the belt off for now.
