4th gen rear shock replacement- which ball joint to separate??

Hi all. Searced the DIY but only found 5th gen walkthrough. I'm having trouble figuring out which ball joint to separate to get the shock out. Is it the one at hub height just rearward of the wheel bearing or the one directly underneith the hub behind the rotor? Thanks in advance

It sounds like the "one at hub height just rearward of the wheel bearing" is your tie rod. The one directly underneath is the one you want. Dont hit the threads with a hammer, go rent a separator kit so you dont ruin your ball joints.
