Icon8 my timing belt/oil pump excursion. LONG READ

This is mostly a rant, so bare with me

So I started my attempt to change my oil pump yesterday; took VC off, took right motor mount out, moved PS pump outta the way, got access to the crank pulley bolt as the car was in the air. (mind you, the oil pump is UNDER the timing belt, so this all hasta come out )

-shoved a screwdriver thru both intake and exhaust camshaft holders into the cams to prevent them from turning as i was attempting to get teh bolt out.

-had my 3/8" drive breaker bar with extensions attached to CP bolt, started turning.. nothing. find a STEEL bar that fits perfectly over breaker bar. "oooo" i say . start turning, and the screwdrivers break the cam holders and send teh broken pieces FLYINGGGGG into the garage like shrapnel as my old man is washing his TL . phew, thank god he didn't hear/see that or he woulda flipped a SHHHHHHHH1111TTTTT on meee!!

-gave up with the 3/8" sockets cuz the breaker bar was almost in 2 pieces

-air compressor and impact gun time . compressor maxes @ 155psi, and that bolt is in there @ 160-180lb/ft. didn't do sh1t.

-decide to step up to 1/2" drive extensions and breaker bar. great, now my original steel pipe doesn't fit over this breaker bar
drive down to home depot and buy a 5foot 1" diameter steel pipe. perfect
started using that today, put the car on the ground, put it in gear, had my dad pressing the brakes (EVERY and ANYTHING to prevent the engine from spinning) , while my uncle and i apply about 300 pounds of force and turn the pipe thru about 110 degrees of rotation. brakes can't hold, and car lurched forward. FACCKKKKKK

by this time my OTHER uncle who is ALSO a huuugeee gear-head showed up to help me, even tho he hates my rice-rocket

-we start shoving big-ass flathead screwdrivers down the timing hole and into the teeth of the flywheel to prevent the engine from turning again. we go to town with the steel pipe.... and the screwdrivers just slip off the teeth
we started pondering rude-goldberg ideas of how to get this off. uncle #2 says to put the breaker bar on, crank the motor, and when the breaker bar slams into the ground, it'll loosen the bolt. interesting idea. thankfully i already thought of this idea and realized that the engine cranks COUNTERCLOCKWISE!!!!!! that if we were to do this idea, this would only TIGHTEN the bolt instead of LOOSEN it!!!

amazed at how much that bolt is torqued in there, we all give up and throw in the towel and start bullsh1ttin about cars for about an hour (aka, they talk about the stories of all their old cars: 66 vettes, 69 camaros, 71 challengers, 65 galaxy, ettc etc)

so.... ima try to buy the honda crank pulley holder tool on ebay tomorrow, and this prevents the engine from spinning as you try to loosen the bolt, and if i win it i'll attempt that NEXT weekend. another week gone by without driving my baby

I don't have a glock? break into my house while I'm home and see what happens... yes these days the way I feel about working on cars is to shoot them and take away all 'my' problems. cars are my only problem it seems....

dont shoot them. its harder to explain. im telling you guys....hammers, duct tape, and band aids solve every problem involving cars. hammers for anger, duct tape can be used for anything and band aids for cosmetic purposes. make sure they are jdm band aids too...lol

if a 5 foot steel pipe didn't do the job, i doubt a hammer will do sh*t
