Which one wastes more gas??

whats up everyone. just had a question about the f22 and h22 motors.. now before you go gettin all mad, just remember that im still learning about motors as i visit this site.. by the way i have learned alot from you guys..

Which one wastes more gas, since they are technically 2.2 L? I would figure that my F22 would waste just as much.. then again, the h22 has more hp.. anyone?

I'd say the h22. I had a f22 in a 91 accord and I got way better gas milage than now. hypothetically speaking the f22 should get better gas milage because of the taller gears.

Doesn't the F22 have smaller injectors as well? My 91 Accord F22, even with 250K miles still got over 30 miles to the gallon. My H23 gets around 24 when I drive conservatively. The VTEC in the H22 will use more gas as well. My mom's K24 Accord is great on gas till you get in VTEC for a lil bit then I can watch the needle moving.

dakilla4ever will become famous soon enough
It all depends on the driver, and the motor. If we are talking about 2 stock motors with the same driver and conservative driving. The f22 will burn more gas. High speed high rev driving the h22 will burn more gas. You have to remember Honda made VTEC to conserve gas and get better mpg. Check the stats on any website that offers info on our cars before you buy them and you will have the best gas mileage in the h22 ,then the h23, and the worst in the f22. If the motor is built (TEL) with cams, valvetrain, and a larger amount of other things yeah of course no matter which way you drive the h22 will burn more gas.

1990 Honda Accord Lx f22a1:

Fuel Tank Capacity: 17 gal.
EPA Mileage Estimates: (City/Highway)
Manual: 24 mpg / 30 mpg Automatic: : 22 mpg / 28 mpg

1998 Honda Prelude h22:

Fuel Tank Capacity: 15.9 gal.
EPA Mileage Estimates: (City/Highway)
Manual: 23 mpg / 27 mpg Automatic: : 22 mpg / 27 mpg

Honestly, they are both same in displacement.
It's really the way you drive, how much work is involved(weight, severe driving) and what type of driving you do.
My old Accord was great on gas.
My old Civic was king on MPG's as it was a 1.6 liter.

I did not know the fifth gen tanks were that big... I thought it was along the lines of 13 or 14. so why when I full up I've never had to put more than 13 gallons. I think my gas light comes on at roughly 11 gallons. now I know I can go longer lol.

dakiller......having bigger injectors, cams, compression and valvetrain have nothing to do with gas milage lol. (everybody that was a joke. its quiet the opposit).

The H22 uses more fuel, since VTEC is so addictive, you always drive flat out...

TEL. your fuel light comes on when you have around 1.5 gallons left. mine does the same thing when i fill up. i dont think that ive been able to put more than 13.8 gallons when there were no bars on my gas gauge. then you have to remember that there is fuel in the bottom of the tank that the pick up tube and the sending unit will not be able to sense. theres your 16 gallon tank
