Head Bolts Stripped Out!!!

So I'm taking the head off of my F22A1, and the last two are rounded off. Does anybody have any ideas on how to go about getting them off?

Thank You,
~Mark

WOW> okay sounds like you might be screwed on this one. Try this... whatever size it is... thinking maybe 14mm or 12mm.... get an EXTRACTION SOCKET or TURBO SOCKET in that size. good luck and just go slow. if that doesn't work.... drill off the heads of the bolts. then you can take the head off. then you have to figure out how to get the rest of the stud out.

if you drill them out, get EZ outs. i used them on my friends VC bolt that broke off, worked like a charm. just gotta get a smaller bit and drill a hole

Re: Head Bolts Stripped Out!!!

its only an f22, just buy another (running) one like i did for $100. it'll save you a buttload of headaches

but nahh ok. first i'd try extraction sockets, and hope to god they work. just go slow.
i highly highly doubt EZ outs will work since you'll hafta apply over 75lb-ft to them.
cutting the heads off the bolts isn't gonna be too easy either.

orrr, since i'm always looking for excuses to use my welder, i'd weld a solid steel bar on top of the bolt long enough to clear head, then weld another piece of steel at 90* on top to use as a wrench

Lol, what are you an engineer? That seriously sounds epic. "I couldn't get this stripped bolt out so I welded stuff onto it."

Hah, not surprised at all. I went for EE but I'm lazy so I decided to go to math (started physics but they never had the last course I needed).

Re: Head Bolts Stripped Out!!!

Another thing I was thinking is welding a socket on the head of the bolt and wrenching it the hell off. lol
