PS Delete Problem

So I'm basically done with the PS delete, all I have left to do is loop the two larger lines on the valve body. Well...while trying to remove the circled line:

The bolt was rusted as **** and stripped so somebody obviously has done something down there before. Sooo I was just gonna cut the line and loop it while it was on the car. As soon as I put the tube cutter on the ****ing line, it basically snapped off at the bolt.

Therein lies the problem. How am I supposed to get that ****ing bolt/line out of there without damaging the valve body?

P.S. - Did anyone ever figure out where the two hardlines running along the driver's side of the bay end up at? I want those ****ers out of there. The big hose that ran to the top of the PS pump needs to go too, but I have no idea where that bitch goes either.

Re: PS Delete Problem

just remove all the hoses =]. you dont need them anymore. get some vice grips, that will get that bolt out.. or some bolt extractors.

BTW, you dont REALLY need to loop the lines. if the rack dies, nothing happens since you have no PS anyway.. but it makes it smoother.

So..
1. bole extractors or vice grips to get the bolt out.
2. remove everything! =] those big lines run to the lines your playing with!!

also, go into the 4g section and find a thread saying something like 4g looped lines or something, there is alot o info in there, and its an active thread currently.

Re: PS Delete Problem

I figured they ran to the valve body, but it feels like they're still connected to something even though they aren't. Is there a bracket hidden underneath the car somewhere?

I know, I posted on it yesterday. But it looked like Neck was still trying to figure out how to get rid of the big PS line (the one that bolted to the top of the PS pump) like I am. Where does it go?

P.S. - Will a bolt extractor work if there's still a little piece of the hardline sticking out of the bolt?

Re: PS Delete Problem

yup i still got all 3 of those lines chillin in my bay still cuz it still feels like they're bolted down somewhere and i haven't felt like figuring it out lately.

see if you can trim off as much of the hardline as you can. once you do it'll be pretty easy w/ bolt extractors since there's already a hole there that you don't gotta drill.

Re: PS Delete Problem

as far as i can see the upper hose on the pump goes to the rack, the lower goes to the reservoir, and then there are the other two witch go to the cooler within the bumper. The 2 cooler lines are bolted along the way to the rack on the driver side engine bay. thats all it shows in the first edition 93 Honda prelude service manual. all the other lines lead to a different place on the rack itself. And i would just heat that bolt up then unscrew it using pliers.

Re: PS Delete Problem

just trace them and take them off, i might grab a pic from my parts car...thats how i figured out where everything goes. just an hour agoe i finished everything! there are NO traces of power steering in my car! =] i got all those little lines out. it was easy to remove my intake and just take em out! nothing that hard.. then just take your hands, reach down in there, take a deep breath and rip the connectors out of the frame. take your hand back up, cry at your fingers cut down to the bone, and repeat with your other hand..wait a week for your hands to heal and repeat. theres about 6 of them, and they hurt like hell to rip out.. =] but like i said, it all does come out. they go around the rear mount on that brace, and to the VSS.

Dunno if I'm down with that. lol

The hardline is basically snapped off right at the bolt, so I gotta figure out how to get the rest of it out before I can get at it with the bolt extractor I suppose. Should be fun. Not. lol

Re: PS Delete Problem

Yes. The pic at the top is of a rack after it has been looped. You basically connect the small hose to the small, large to large, then loop the VSS and that's it. However it's only for 4G's, so if you have anything else it's irrelevant I guess.

Ok so I'm looking the at Helms right now, and the two hardlines that run along the driver's side of the bay end up running to the PS Speed Sensor on the other side of the bay. I'm assuming what we've been referring to as the VSS is actually the PS Speed Sensor? I just want to clarify with some others just in case I'm missing something.

Also...the large hose that ran to the top of the PS pump...that looks like it runs to the valve body on the steering rack (to be more specific, the circled line in the picture at the top) . Would I be correct in guessing that? Kyle I'm looking at you since you've recently dealt with all this. lol
