VERY INTERESTING

So i get into my car at night and im about to head out with some friends...one of my friends tells me to turn on my fogs...which is weird cause i always keep the switch on...when he get to the spot my fogs are off. when i get home i see the fuse is shot to hell...well i figured out that problem but whats interesting is now my gauges and all my lights in the car also off....and when i got pulled over last night i learned my taillights are out I checked more fuses and i cant really figure out if there messed up or not...does anyone have any other ideas?...im sure i need new wiring for my fogs...but i cant figure out whats up with everything else....open to anything!!!!

I am 99.9099% sure that it is the tailight fuse. Cause the gauge cluster and all that ish to go out as well. I've blown it myself before. its gonna be fuse #10. its a 15 amp

Pull and replace it even if it doesnt look blown. Its the cheapest, easiest, and quickest fix. If it solves the problem then everything should be straight. Now if it blows again then start hunting down your grounds. I'll be honest I'm not entirely sure which grounds to check. You can pull up the wiring diagrams in the helms manual( located in the 5th gen resource thread) and look at the diagram and go from there. I would start by checking the grounds for the foggies then working my way through that circuit as per the wiring diagram.

Let us know if you get it figured out or need more help, I'm sure others can help ya out if my advice isnt enough

Re: VERY INTERESTING

he should be looking for a short circuit, not a ground. right?

i usually see this happen after people have installed stereos by them selves and do a bad job. the dimmer wire might be shorting out behind the radio.

Re: VERY INTERESTING

Also try the light switch/turn light switch. All the lights are connected some how there. This was what was wrong with my dads jeep. The guy across the street told us to check it and it worked (he was a for machanic for 30yrs :] )

Re: VERY INTERESTING

Ok well I just ran into a similar problem in my 97 lude. It started with all my gauges not working, along with windows and sunroof also not working. I opened and closed my door while driving down the road and bingo everything works. So I figure it is a short. Then a week later again none of those are working so I started chasing fuses touched one of the ones below the fuse puller and there ya go I got everything back. I replaced the fuse and everything was fine, until I drove at night. I have no instrument lights/ tail lights. I found this thread so I replaced the tail light fuse still no joy. Also I found a blown fuse under the hood 20 amp small light # 14 I think. So I replaced it and as soon as I turn on the lights it blows instantly. Any ideas would be great at this point I got pissed and stopped my hunt.
