Questions before building

current lude. 96 SI 2.3, DOHC, 5 Speed, OBD-II, Non-Vtec.

Ive heard many and seen many topics about swapping OBD-II to OBD-I. I can get ahold of a OBD-I computer, HOWEVER it would come off of a 92 si with same setup EXCEPT, its is a automatic tranny.
--QUESTION: What is the biggest reason for swapping (future plans are to boost)...
--QUESTION: will the OBD-I work because of the different tranny's
--QUESTION: Is this a plug and play type system for swapping or will mods be required.. (( I KNOW TUNING AND CHIPPING after boost, but im talking just to swap them out)

Im looking into getting the Ralco under drive pully kit here soon.
--QUESTION: What type of gains or losses should I expect (HP, torque), is this a good idea or not, and is there a noticable differance.

last question for now.... I would like some suggestions or for my future setup.
Im not looking to produce crazy amounts of power. im looking to get around 200-250 whp.. Which seriously is not hard for a turbo to do.. just trying to get at least that without completely redoing my motor.. I'd like to try an dkeep my A/C and my P/S but could handle without A/C more than without P/S.
--So im looking for turbo, manifold, wastegate, bov, piping, intercooler, etc suggestions that way I can begin looking into my purchases..

thanks guys and hope I get some good help.

Re: Questions before building

My lude is a 5 speed!! But it has OBD-II.
The lude I'm getting the OBD-I from is a auto.

I'm asking how or will that work since they're different trans.

---93LudeS--- thank you for the answer. That's exactly what I wanted was a direct answer..

Now the other question is what's the purpose really for swapping them. I heard it just makes it easier to tune and chip compared to OBD-II which some how bypasses the tunes and resets to factory settings.

Re: Questions before building

OBDII will dumb itself back down, if your are boosting it will mess with the A/F ratios and either start dumping tons of fuel, or holding back fuel, if it holds back fuel, its gonna melt something because the heat of the compressed air coming in.

OBDI is strongly, and I mean strongly recommended..

Also when someone who actually is boosted chimes in, just correct anything that could be wrong in my post.
