A whole bunch of mod questions

ok so my engine is pulled and I've started working on it. My budget is not huge but I'm looking for so things I can do performance wise. Here's what I've got so far (engine is an H22):

-hondata heatshield intake manifold gasket
-torque damper to replace front motor mount (because it broke)
-water temp gauge
-volt gauge
-Oil pressure gauge
-air/fuel gauge
-aftermarket crankshaft pulley (anyone know a good one to go with?)

I'm not going to take off the head so I know there's not a whole lot I can do with it to gain power. I'm just looking to see if anyone can think of anything I left out.

Re: A whole bunch of mod questions

you could bump up the compression with some mahle gold series pistons, or a small cam like skunk2 tuner1's or Type S/Euro R.. other things you can do are like intake mani, Header, and of course get it tuned

and you really dont need the volt gauge or the water temp gauge. The stock ones works just fine.

No I swapped the engine into my 86 prelude and those gauges aren't working on my cluster.

Re: A whole bunch of mod questions

ahh ok.. if it were me i think i would try and find a new cluster then. just because thats alot of gauges to have out in pods. just me though.
althought i dont know how hard it would be to find one..

question, whats your budget for this swap? like for after market wise

and the front motor mount broke? cant just get a new one?

Re: A whole bunch of mod questions

Im not a fan of the gold seris pistons :D But type S i am.. If you are staying N/A

Theres alot of cheap things you can do to your engine to gain a lil hp.

Replace Engine Grounds, Block off some sensors

Yea what rebal said.. Whats ur budget?

I had to custom make it because it's a tight fit and desn't match the 98 or 86 mounts. I think a torque damper would be the best route; because it'll hold up against a lot of stress. As for my budget, I have between 100 and 200 bucks each paycheck to put in to my car. and yes i'm staying N/A

Re: A whole bunch of mod questions

well thank god you at least have something close to realistic goals haha,

what most of these people said sounds good

intake manifold/header, stage1 cams, stuff like that, biggest thing is just getting it tuned.

Re: A whole bunch of mod questions

lol ya i rebuilt my motor with thinking around 4-5k and i ended up spending 10k in the end lol. the money adds up. A good junk of money can end up going towards tuning as well if you cant find someone who really knows that their doing. But ya pretty much what everyone else said, header, air intake, exhaust, intake manifold. NOS isnt all that expensive anymore lol. jk Good luck with your motor bro

Re: A whole bunch of mod questions

thanks guys. I've never had a car tuned tho and I'm not sure about it all... its not like tuning a stock 98 prelude (and I switched it to OBD 1). How would they even go about tuning it?

alright so then you've already put in a chipped obd1 ecu? which one?

and if your not real sure on it, your gonna want someone to do it for you then.

put simply, they do it by burning air/fuel and ignition maps to a microchip that is then placed inside your obd1 ecu. Which controls your fuel trims, ignition timing, everything.
