Help me figure out the ignition wiring (Video)

dont hate on the butt connectors, they're temporary. and none of this is my wiring just for the record, i got this car 2 weeks ago. all i did was connect the connector that was going to the ignition box directly to the coil.

Hey thought posting a video would be easier than explaining this in pictures and words. im just trying to figure out is these are wired up properly and if not, can you let me know how to?

the black/yellow and yellow wire are connected to the pos of the coil and the blue wire is connected to the neg of the coil.

this is the tach problem im referring to

the larger problem is that the wiring got all hacked up and jimmy rigged.
you probably are better off getting a new dist harness, espically for futures sake if you dont want to run into problems later.
the problem is that is going to be a little difficult and your probably going to need to persue a whole dist. assembly but dont fear you can find them online for around $120 remaned if your patient.

that coil it looks like an accel coil is saddly probably no better than the oem coil assuming its in good shape. food for thought.
bottom line if it works it works.

for the tach problem i remeber hearing something about that and needing a msd tach adapter for running some aftermarket ignition systems.
there about $50 and are avaible from Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts l 800-230-3030 to your local performane shop. before you spring to buy it i would suggest waiting for someone else to confirm this.

on a personal note i would convert it all back to stock start from scratch and do a cleaner instalation because that looks like a rats nest

Hey man, I'm not really an expert with this stuff but if the car is running than I don't think the yellow and black-yellow wire should have any problems. As for the tach, I think the OBD1 H22's had the crank sensor in the distributor, so maybe some of that wiring is the problem.

Although why it only freaks out in vtec is a mystery. But, hey, like I said I am no expert, so I would wait for someone else to chime in.

Hey Like krunicus said some one hacked the harness ,so your going to have some issues, if the harness is not properly connected . The harness should be tight and have no open wire exposed especially by the distributor or the coil ,because that will cause arcing and it might short some thing out wile driving like your ecu, dissy .Start from scratch is worth a piece of mind ,you can get a dissy from junk yard or from the internet online and also a new coil if you have some cash to spare that way you know every thing proper .The rpms tach and the sputtering sounds like a bad distributor .

Re: Help me figure out the ignition wiring (Video)

is that a real type s motor? or an h22 with a red valve cover...

obvisouly if its a real type s i would replace the dizzy make sure its obd1 and replace that harness with an obd1 harness make sure you hook up everything correctly you might not need too - but from what i saw i would.

clean up all that wiring remove that ingition box, an go from there

Re: Help me figure out the ignition wiring (Video)

If I was in this situation I would try to find a new wire harness and a OEM coil.

Look over the Honda Service manual, it is on page 1171 or 23-92.
