Stoopid Check Engine Light

Had the prelude with no problems. Driving back from Orlando and my gas was low. "E" light came on and so did the check engine light. So I filled up the tank and the "E" went off, but not the check engine light.

Any ideas?

Re: Stoopid Check Engine Light

I reset the ECU and all is good (almost). Another newbie question but the code for the stereo, is that set by the owner, or like a factory code? Hoping it's the second because the previous owner didn't say anything and he's about 1800 miles away...

Re: Stoopid Check Engine Light

Stereo code has to be retrieved from the dealership.

If your car is a 5th gen they'll probably give you the code for free or cheap.

Re: Stoopid Check Engine Light

Called Honda down here in FL. They won't give it to me for free because I didn't buy the car there. Said they have to take out teh stereo. Called teh guy I bought it from, he said he wrote in the space above the stereo, so I'll check it out later today.

Also, light came back on. OBD says EGR insufficent flow. Already found the thread on here , looking to tackle that this weekend (possibly)/ I'm in a cast until Feb.

Re: Stoopid Check Engine Light

If the code the guy wrote is worn off or unreadable w/e, What Honda needs is the stereos serial number I'm pretty sure..

Re: Stoopid Check Engine Light

Okay, bringing this back from the grave. So I can't get in and clean the valve because I'm in a cast. Got 2 trip down to Orlando coming in a few weeks. So its about a 3 hour total drive. Can this problem handle that much driving, or should I take it somewhere?

Thanks
