Recommendations for new clutch?

I'm looking into getting myself a new clutch for my 96 prelude. Thinking about a light-weight flywheel and stage 1 clutch set.
Any recommendations and any websites where I can order them?

Re: Recommendations for new clutch?

from what i've heard around the sight stage 1 is pretty much a stock replacement. I'd go stage two. There's a good quality package on ebay with a (correct me if I'm wrong someone) lightweight Fidanza flywheel and an Exedy clutch that some fellow luders have, I'm sure someone will chime in.

Re: Recommendations for new clutch?

The stage-2 clutch will be be sufficient for an h22a. What you will notice in stage-2 clutch is better gripping to withstand motors putting down more hp, shorter travel distance, and a stiffer clutch.

Lightweight flywheel is great upgrade...quicker up and down revs. A little bit different when rev matching during daily driving. You have to shift faster to stay in vtec.

If you are running boost, I heard a super light flywheel is no good because you can fall out of boost between shifts. Don't know if that's true, but it sounds right to me.

I am using an exedy stage-2 with fidanza flywheel and can't complain.

Re: Recommendations for new clutch?

I was looking it up on ebay and there is an exedy clutch and fidanza flywheel 8lbs and another deal with an exedy clutch and xtd flywheel thats 10 lbs. Pricing doesnt differ significantly, but I wanted to know what would be a good weight flywheel for my h23 engine? Also, im going to put a short shift in, if that makes a difference.

Re: Recommendations for new clutch?

I bought the exedy oem clutch and fidanza 8lb flywheel. Sadly it isnt in yet. So i cant help ya there. But u would be good with a exedy oem clutch and 8 or 12lb flywheel. If I could do it again I would prolly get the 12lb tho cos I've heard its difficult for some ppl 2 drive with the 8lb flywheel

8lb for sure - You will notice a difference in throttle response. 8lb will be good for the h23. And I don't think it's difficult to drive with...it will just be different and you'll have to get used to it.

Re: Recommendations for new clutch?

I'm running a Exedy stage 1 clutch kit along with a Fidanza 8lbs flywheel. It holds up pretty damn good.

Never go with ebay kit such as XTD, F1 Racing, etc. I've learned it the hard way.

Re: Recommendations for new clutch?

I am using an ACT Stage 3 6 puck clutch
and ACT Lightened Flywheel on my S2000.

Grips like a whore on payday, and revs up
faster than a crack dealer running from the
cops.

So if it works that well on an S...then the Lude
should be no problem

I heard the 8lb is too light. I was considering maybe a 10lb flywheel?
Does anyone have experience with that?

Re: Recommendations for new clutch?

The 8 lb is NOT too light. It is DIFFERENT so it will take some getting used to but it is not too light. That was one of my fav mods! Huge increase in performance.

Re: Recommendations for new clutch?

add my worthless opinion here too......
i brought my prelude with a lightweight flywheel installed already so i cant really say if its improved the response at all.... but i did install one on my old impreza sport a few years ago, and it make a massive difference but really what i wanted to say is that anyone who is installing a lightweight flywheel then a light weight pulley set really makes the mod worth while, and they arent too pricey either, can be a pig to put on (f**king crank bolt) but well worth it
