Re: New NSX

looks expensive, if it comes out expect to pay GT-R prices or more. Very cool though. I remember seeing some similar nsx successor that was cancelled last minute

3.4 v8 with 500hp revs to probably at least 8k rpms

vs

5.0 v8 500hp revs to like... 6.5k rpms?

Also weighs significantly less thanks to awesome designs. (Like my f20c weighs less then a b16)

What would win? lol

Re: New NSX

3.4 V8 is due to the SuperGT design rules as I understand it. Wouldn't call it a successor either. I would think that they always intended to do a SuperGT version of the cancelled NSX, just now they asked to skip the homologation rules, so no production version was required.

Also forget GTR prices if it is possible to get your hands on one think NSX-R GT prices (half a mill). Like I said though it is my understanding that they asked to for an exemption from homologation rules, so no production version.

well it really depends on what kind of race it was... in a straight line the 5.0 would probally take the cake... due the the significantly higher tourqe numbers it would produce...

in the curves the smaller v8 would have the advantage because of the rpms they can withstand and high end powerband...

I'll give you that. The 5.0 would probably take it in an 1/8m but I think the 3.4 would catch up and pass by in a 1/4m.

3.4L V8 isn't that small! Compare it to a Formula 1 2.4L V8 pumping out over 700 ponies at 17,000 RPM!

I'm thinking that a 3.4L V8 should be capable of revving to atleast 9, if not 10k. If it generated 500hp at around 7500 RPMs it would have around 350 lbft of torque. So I would think it would generate somewhere between 350 to 420 lbft of torque since the peak torque is usually hit earlier than maximum power output.
