upgrades for h22

hi everyone,

i have a 1992 lude with a h22a chucked in, and i was wondering what kind of upgrades are worth the money to put in,
i want to install a turbo, and ebay have a complete kit for $1300 AU, but where can i place it is the main question as my engine bay is already crowded!

also i need air intake piping, i cant seem to find any without the pod! anyone know the hook up??

are walbro fuel pumps any good for extra power?

and how about ebay exhaust headers? they go for around 130 bucks and seem like a decent upgrade

please let me know any other upgrades n prices as i am looking on making my ride reach at least 300kw at the wheels, thanks

Re: upgrades for h22

If you are going to go with a turbo set-up, don't go with something cheap from ebay because it won't be good quality and you will probably run into more problems than not. Go with something good. The ebay kit will most likely not have everything you need to go turbo anyways and will be a waste of money imo.
So, you wanna go turbo, huh?

Also if you want to upgrade your headers, buying a cheap header won't give you any better performance than stock. Save up and spend $800+ to buy a good header that will have performance gains. (ex. bisitimo)

"worth it" is a very, very subjective term. whats worth it to some isn't necessarily worth it for others. for me going turbo was one of the best mods everrrrrrr. and you place it where you place every other turbo. but like canuck said DO NOT GO WITH AN EBAY KIT!!!!! i will guarantee it'll be more problems than its worth!!! you gotta pay to play.

ebay. but what pod? what is a pod?

are walbro fuel pumps any good for extra power?

they don't GIVE you more power, they SUPPORT more power. (aka turbo) this isn't gran turismo where every single mod like a steering wheel will give 10+hp.

if your going turbo, you don't need a header.

could you please convert that to hp/tq? (for us americans)

Re: upgrades for h22

wow thats a hefty goal.

i'm basically gonna tell you right now that that's not gonna happen without forced induction, unless you wanna spend the amount of a new car into your engine alone.

but more importantly, what are your goals for the car? drag? auto-x? DD?

Re: upgrades for h22

Mate, you aint gonna get 300kW atw. And $1300 won't get you too far. A standard H22 Prelude makes roughly 100kW atw. Give or take about 10kW due to dyno variations and weather. With your budget, an intake, exhaust and tune will be about your limit, and you'll see about 120-130kW, again depending on the tune itself and dyno variations.

Where did you get this 300kW from? Does your mate have a fulli sik bro Commodore, and you wanna beat him?

Also, I've seen people many times with a certain number in mind, and rather than be happy with 3 ponies off it, they retune the engine, and blow it up while trying to get those extra 3 ponies. Don't go for a total whp or fwkW goal, look for a % increase.
