i'am putting an H22 head on my H23

one of my friends says it adds a lot of power, i wanted to know if anyone personally knew specifically the positives and negatives to doing this and any advice, i'm not really a mechanically sound person past your basic oil change and brake pad change lol so maybe dumb it down a little bit

Re: i'am putting an H22 head on my H23

i've heard of people doing it none of them personally but im pretty sure the h23 is a 2.3l and a h22 is a 2.2l so you take the performance of the h22 and the volume of the cylinders (?) in the h23 to make more power

Re: i'am putting an H22 head on my H23

It can def be done. There's a lot that goes into it. Check google honda-tech/honda-swap has a bunch of articles on it. I have the G22 motor (F22A1 block w/H22A4 head) n the motor makes a good bit of power but workimn on it sux sometimes bc all the parts are mix matched to make it work. If ur not that mechanically inclined ull end up spendin a fortune from havin it in shops. Good luck. Keep us posted

mine gets better gas mileage cruising...

Lets just say its not as easy as putting an H22 head on the H23 block. I wouldnt actually go through with it without doing a complete rebuild of the motor. Its just so much easier, plus the motor will need to be balanced to have a shot at spinning it much higher than 6500rpms for a while. Plus, whats the fun of VTEC without the higher redline?

Its also going to require a tune considering how different the motors really are...

Yes sir I did.. Saved me some time considering I dont know when my CNC machine will be up and running... I dont have the space...

Oh, and I meant it gets better mileage than my h22 did.. Of course, 12:1 compression should help there at low load. Oh, and got is more appropriate considering its back on the engine stand right now... I disassembled it to check stuff out after a while.. Took 2 months to get new bearings.. UGH.

Well.. If they just swap the head onto it without pulling the motor and having a machine shop balance the rotating assembly its not going to last.

Be prepared to be buying a new motor soon after.
