Ignition problems on integra...

Hey wuts up guys i just recently bough my bros integra
for 800 bucks...its an 96 Ls non Vtec...but it it pulls pretty
hard!its all stock and it has a AEM CAI V2...anyways...

The car turned on perfectly fine until recently
i noticed that when i put the key in and turn it
to the 2nd click no dashboard light/indicators turn on...
but when i turn it all the way thru they turn on and so does
the car but as soon as i let go off the crank the car turns off
right away.

I went to the auto parts to see the price on a new ignition
and its $230 which is pretty expensive...
So is there any other things that could be causing the problem
that i could check or fix b4 i buy the new igntion...?

Thanx guys....

Re: Ignition problems on integra...

Hey buddy welcome to pz . i will try to give some ideas because the info you gave isn't much to go on but here goes the problem sounds like a bad switch because car starts every thing goes on but when releasing the key it shuts of . The ignition electrical part sounds fine because the car stars up so i don't believe any else could be a problem ,and try to get some w 40 oil in the key hole and while turning it ,some time the internal part gets stuck with wear and tear the mechanical part has some spring tensioner .Take some time to check the fuses and the main relay and your battery positve connection make sure the wires are not brittle .Thats all for know hit me back updates .Later H doctor

Re: Ignition problems on integra...

So, it starts right up without any delay, then dies?
