5th spark plug?

Ok, so im going to replace my stock spark plug wires, and new spark plugs to NGK, ok so i was taking a look at it , and i see 4 spark plugs in a row, and theres an additional wire that's about a couple inches below the spark plugs that connects to some other part, im wondering if i have to replace that wire as well, is it a spark plug? how many spark plugs are needed?

Re: 5th spark plug?

Considering there are only 4 plugs in a 4 cyl. engine, then your answer is indeed 4.
The other wire you are looking at is the ignition coil wire. Yes replace that as well.
It should be in the set.

Also if you have never changed PLUGS and WIRES before, here is a little hint so you
don't get them out of order.....DO THEM ONE AT A TIME.

Before you snatch all the wires off the distributer cap just pull (the plug end, under the plug cover on top of the valve cover) them out of the HEAD. Now remove and replace all the PLUGS, but only REMOVE and REPLACE one wire at a time. This way you will know for sure, where the wire goes on the distributor cap to corespond to the correct cylinder. If you take them all off, and put them back on out of order, you are going to have some timing issues due to misfiring out of order, and that could be bad for the motor.

Best bet, take your time, do it right.
Later !!!
