Car moves forward when fully stop.

Ok, so when i fully brake all the way, my car lurches forward a bit, i dont think it actually moves forward, but i can feel the car push forward. I'm wondering what is causing this? can it be the transmission?

Hmmm... possibly you

ARE IN A DRIVE GEAR!!!!!

or, your flux capacitor is going bad... that lurch is the car trying to jump into the next dimension... you should hold the brake down harder...

If your car is moving forward and you are ONLY stepping on the brake... you're doing something horribly wrong....... and that's about the nicest way I can put it.

More details plz kkthxbai

Re: Car moves forward when fully stop.

5 bucks says its your tranny going out, its trying to down shift while your hitting the brake causing you to jerk forward.

Re: Car moves forward when fully stop.

That does sound like a tranny problem... like the car is having trouble getting back into 1st gear. Is this the only issue you're having? Make sure you check your tranny fluid, and pay attention to how the car is shifting through the other gears.

Just an FYI - automatic transmissions are expensive to repair and usually break down after awhile even after being fixed, so if you end up needing a repair i would do a manual swap, because the manual tranny is much more durable, an auto will always wear down much faster.

I recently posted about the same symptoms happening in my lude, found out the tranny took a dump on me, the scanner pulled up 6 codes, all electrical probs w/ the tranny

Re: Car moves forward when fully stop.

yeah the automatics tend to have sticky valves. and first gear seems to be the worst. my lude used to do this back when my mom owned it. i don't remember what happened but they took it in and the warranty paid for it. it hasn't done it since. it still lurches sometimes like if i come to a very fast stop it won't drop into first till i actually come to a stop.. what is actually happening is more or less a combination of your tranny's computer and the tranny itself. when decelerating the tranny computer tells the tranny to completely bypass 2nd. it basically goes from 3rd to 1st in an instant. the reason being is to try to make the down shift more smoother. well we see how well that worked. and being that the valves get sticky, doesn't make it any better. what you could do to make it a little easier on you is to manually downshift. or take a little more time coming to a stop.
