98 prelude wont start, no clicking

ok heres the deal, i just bought a 98 prelude and i wanted to take of the damn underglow lights from it inside and out. as i was sorting through the wires, there was a spark and some smoke after i had tried to untangle all of them from the wiring booth on the drivers side. and now the car wont start, it doesnt click, crank, or anything. the things that work are the lights inside and out but there stereo doesnt start on and there is no ignition(the dash doesnt come on either). there were loose red wires from the stereo and the red wire is the one that started the sparks(its stripped but it wasnt connected to anything it was just hanging there). please help me out.

heres a pic of where it sparked:

heres a vid as well to show you what works and what doesnt:

everything but the actual ignition/start of the car is working. headlights turn on and off, brake lights work, inside lights work, dash light works(but when you first switch the car on and try to start it, nothing happens)

Re: 98 prelude wont start, no clicking

ok guys, i replaced all my fuses and everything but its still the same thing. something must have burnt out or whatever because my radio/dash is no longer in operation at all. everything else in my car works but the initial start of the car. could it be a relay? or something to do with the ignition switch?

Re: 98 prelude wont start, no clicking

Hey the problem is simple first doe's wires that are exposed you cap them and, test for power in them , make sure the connection on the stater is good and tight there is a single wire that is supposed to be on the top of the stater.with out that wire the stater wont engage ,and see if you have power at the main stater connection witch is a heavy gauge wire with a nut fastener you can also start with the ignition on and, then jump the stater with a screw driver to do just touch the two connection on the stater .The car should start .Rember check all your fuses live wires main connections . Let me know what you came up with .John

Re: 98 prelude wont start, no clicking

HI
Newbie here
I have a similar probs on starting my honda prelude 98, which does not engage starter motor at all.
Checks I have done are as follows.
1 Battery connections are good and tight
2 Starter motor connections are good and tight, including small wire clip as well.
3 Starter motor has been checked by Autozone and is good.
4 When turning on ignition all I get is a small click noise and no drain on power in dash board, which means good battery power.
5 Checked the 100A fuse, and relay was swapped with another in the fuse box to eliminate that.

Are there any other fuses involved as my manual is vague and if Im correct there is also a 50A fuse shown in the diagram, WHERE is that fuse in the car?

JohnL114 mentions shorting the terminals on starter motor with ign ON, do you mean shorting the 2 large nut connectors on the starter?

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks

Ameer

Re: 98 prelude wont start, no clicking

that isnt exactly a fuse, and i had this crappy little yellow thing where it lit up if it the fuse was ok, it wouldnt work with that breaker until i took it to my friends shop and used the meter.
