Icon5 Engine difference...

Kind of a stupid question but helpful at the same time. What is the difference between an H22A and an H22 engine? Or are they the same?

Re: Engine difference...

Sooo why is this in the DIY section exactly??

If you have a 5th gen usdm more likely than not its an h22a4. Could be an h22a1 though IIRC...

This is what a lot of people have after motor swaps...
Found in the Japanese 4th gen Prelude Si VTEC (2WS BB4 & 4WS BB1). It produces 200 PS (147 kW; 197 hp) @ 6,800 rpm & 161.50 ftlbf (218.96 Nm) @ 5,500 rpm and comes with a "black top".

This is what a lot of people want...

Re: Engine difference...

lol nah man the euro r has a red top the sir wagon has the blue top sorry gotta stick up for my boy franz hes right the euro r red top is pretty much identical to the type s in japan but the f20b is (blue top) is dramatically different just host h22 parts but spec wise couldnt compete (imo) but i could be wrong i love f series but yea blue is a nice color lol. and as far as this thread is concerened you prolly have an h22a4 if the guy u bought it from said its stock. but there not bad just not the "best" so to speak speak wise to an h22a its a bit different but dont let that drag you down and remeber for future refrence since your kinda starting h22a means japan bc there is no number at the end any time theres a number as in h22a4, b16a1, f22a1. (its usdm) japan is short and simple h22a, f22b, b18c, etc. all those are diffrent honda engines hope i helped man !have fun with your lude!!!!!

Re: Engine difference...

Nick, are you using bricks and brakes??? Bahaha!

Euro R engine is an F20b a DOHC Vtec engine, obviously 2 liter. It was a blue top

In japan they produced the h23a that was a 2.3 liter DOHC Vtec engine... also blue top.

Re: Engine difference...

the first gen euro r was the f20b which is a blue top that started in 1996. the second gen euro r was a h22. the year before the acura tsx was released in the US was the last year they made the euro r (engine).
