temp gauge

While sitting in traffic today my temp gauge would rise fairly rapidly but once i started driving it would drop back down. any ideas??

It happened to me one time... u might be short on coolant...if u did anything to ur car recently check ur fluid levels, b4 u overheat, too much that is. I used to own a civic and cant remember what5 i was doin but i had to flush my radiator, i filled it up too short. Like i said u might b short on coolant. Hope it helps dude

it could be cause of a bad rad, not enough coolant, bad t-stat, bad water pump

More than likely your fan isn't turning on. Pop the hood, let it heat up and see if the fan turns on. If it doesn't turn on take some wires and connect the ground to a ground wire somewhere and connect the positive to the battery and see if it will turn on. If it doesn't turn on then that means your fan motor has gone out. If it turns on then there's a few other things that may be wrong, such as a relay, or a sensor.

or you can simply jump the green temp sensor w/ a paper clip. much, muchhhh easier
