VTEC not activating

Hi everyone! I own a 93 Prelude S with a JDM F22B motor in it. The motor was ordered from Japan and installed stateside by the previous owner. It came without a harness or ecu so it was installed using the stock F22A1 ecu and harness (which was modified because it wouldnt even start the motor). So the motor has no VTEC and I assume its running in limp mode. I purchased an ecu for the SOHC F22B1 (94 Accord EX) thinking that it would give me VTEC.... I was wrong. Then I figured that the F22B1 harness was needed as well but it wont hook up to the preludes' harness inputs. Does anyone know what I must do to get the motor running correctly? I was also thinking that I could swap the head with an F22B1 since thats the difference between the two. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: VTEC not activating

ummm guys if he's talking about a SOHC then yeah they do have VTEC:

http://www.jdmenginescorp.com/engine...hc-engine-only

And i might be wrong on this but i swear ive been a blue top JDM F22B DOHC VTEC motor too.

EDIT: NVM it was a F20B was the DOHC VTEC, F22B were only DOHC NON-VTEC.

Re: VTEC not activating

ya the f22b1's only came with vtec. the f22b2 (which was only stamped f22b in japan) was non-vtec so if you bought an ecu for a 94 accord ex (which did have the f22b1 vtec) you're still using the wrong ecu for your f22b if I'm thinking correctly

Re: VTEC not activating

If it is an f22b1 it has vtec.

But that would also make it a usdm motor not a jdm motor

You specifically said it was just a jdm f22b though and that means no vtec....

Re: VTEC not activating

Well ive dont quite a bit of research and the JDM F22B is in fact VTEC. JDM 90-97 Honda Accord
Displacement: 2156cc
Valve train: 4 Cylinder, SOHC VTEC, 16 Valve
Horsepower: 150 HP @ 5500 RPM
Torque: 148 LBS-FT @ 4500 RPM
Fuel Control: OBD-1
Compression: 9.3:1
Bore: 85.0mm
Stroke: 95.0mm
Red Line: 7200rpm
The motor has a VTEC solenoid and pressure switch. But im guessing the B1 ecu is for a DOHC NON vtec? That would explain alot haha. But im still stumped

P.S. the two blue wires you see run to the VTEC solenoid and pressure switch.
