Shifting Problem

About 8 months ago I my car quit going into reverse A local honda dealer fixed it under warrenty. When I took it there the only problem it had shifting was not going into reverse. While it was there they told me my clutch was worn to the rivets so i replaced it with a cetnerforce II clutch.

After getting it back its had a problem not going into gear. I can be sitting and it wont go into 1st or if im moving and shifting up sometimes it goes out of the current gear but will grind and not go into the next gear. IE 3rd to 4th It goes out of 3rd but when i try to go to 4th it just grinds and wont go into gear.

when ever it does that if i let off the clutch pedal and press it back in it usually goes into gear, a few times ive had to let off and depress the pedal more than once to get the car into gear.

I told the dealer but they couldnt replicate it because it doesnt always do this so they said im SOL

Ive put in amsoil snycro mesh but it didnt help at all.

any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Try what John said.
It's preferred to change that stuff when you do a clutch change anyway. It's much easier and cheaper than replacing synchros. That can be costly where in some cases, it may be cheaper to get another tranny. It's hard to gauge though.

Re: Shifting Problem

yea... SI is right... its expensive to change/fix syncros. H trannys are known for reverse going...it usually affects the 5th gear synros too. there is also something else you can check.... for example your saying how your not able to get into gears easily, it could be your cables. cables usually get dirt in them causing them to bind and not smoothly shift.

Re: Shifting Problem

I took a quick look at the cables earlier today, they looked alright.

what are some ways to check the master\slave cylinders on the clutch?
