obd-0 and obd-1 mating

is it possible to mate an obd-1 transmission to an obd-0 d15b2? the main concern is the fact that it is an automatic and was hoping the ecu would still recognize the new tranny. a dope swap with a manual conversion would be nice but sadly i don't have say in my friend's car! thanks for the input...and yes the d is in a civic not a prelude...
