help! steering knocks :(

K so i have a 99 lude sh and after replacing all frontal balljoints and upper control arms i was very upset when i made a turn and heard a loud clunk! So after inspecting it at home my boyfriend and i discovered it only happens when you turn the well and we checked the power steering and it was overflowing! Now my car has a new leaked and maybe all that extra fluid blew out seal or something? Could it be my rack and pinion or wtf? The thing that confused me is he has a 99 lude base model so we went over and turn the steering wheel and his did it too! So is it just a prelude thing or something worse thats gona cost alot of money?

Would it be the driveshaft if it does it when its off in park? we moved the steering wheel back and and forth about an inch it still does it

Re: help! steering knocks :(

who did the work on the ball joints? if you did it yourself just go over it all very carefully and make sure everything is torqued and what not.

Re: help! steering knocks :(

I did the work on her ball joints. They are all in there correctly. You have to have the car off. Steering straight and move it very fast left and right only about half of an inch. it sounds like 2 metal parts are clinging together. Mine does it slightly and her's is very loud. When you turn the car on and do the same thing. It does not make a noise. Once in awhile it will while you are turning and going over a big bump or something.

Re: help! steering knocks :(

check to see if the tie rods are loose/jiggling at all. both going into the steering rack and connecting to the hubs/
