Possible Problem (pics)

Well my sisters boyfriend was driving her car back from camping and about 20 minutes from our place he said there was some vibration and a loud bang noise. Went and picked the car up from the side of the freeway and it started fine, no CEL but it seemed to be misfiring real badly! I've been driving the car to the store and back for a couple days now, has hardly any power.

Took the plugs out and they seemed fine.

I think there might be a problem!

Haha, actually what happened was a seal came out from the counter balance shaft and pumped all the oil out when my sisters boyfriend was driving it home. He noticed the oil light come on but kept driving and when it made the "big bang" he stopped. We didn't feel like having to wrench it onto the trailer when we brought it home so we decided to see if it would start and we drove it onto the trailer. As you can see there's a problem with cylinder 2 and the piston isn't exactly in the location it should be in...

We figured it seized some of the crank bearings and broke a rod, so we've got a used F22a6 long block that should be ready to be picked up this Friday and we'll start swapping the engine out this weekend.

This will be my first engine swap and I'm excited I'll be able to tear down this engine without any worries about breaking ****e.

Looks like your sister gets a new engine, courtesy of her boyfriend!

Post some more pics of the internals when you get it apart... It usually looks a lot worse on the inside.

Matt.
