5th gen prelude semi-build head?

hey guys, i just got a 99 prelude...im used to B-series hatchbacks...the prelude i must admit, is a fun drive tho :]

so im looking for opinions pretty much on what to do to it..

im not trying to do a crazy build or even really that much of a build at all

i dont have much money nd i have a 1 year old daughter :]

i just wanna be able to handle those evos nd STIs with an all motor car :]

im thinking skunk2 intake manifold, cams, valve springs & retainers with a chipped p28 ecu should do the trick.. i already have exhaust nd headers nd the p28 not installed tho..

any opinions will be a great help guys

THANKS!

it's going to be difficult to handle those cars with the mods you've listed. You're going to have to do a pretty extensive build to make 300 hp, which is what it will take to run with those cars. N/A is not cheap.

The H family of motors is a lot lot harder to squeeze power out compared to the B series that you're used to. 300 hp N/A is a lot for a prelude.

Gotcha. Regardless, the H family of engines is pretty efficient from a stock perspective, and if you wanna get a decent amount of power, it'll take more work that you're used to.

Re: 5th gen prelude semi-build head?

to run with STi's and EVO's you will have to put 5 figures in your motor for an N/A setup. you are used to small cars with Bseries as you stated. Hseries motors are tuned extremely well out of the factory so it is hard to squeeze out more power with just boltons and a tune. you have to do extensive internal work to H's to get real good numbers: sleeves, higher compression, bigger bore/stroke, custom race header, blah blah blah. if you are on a budget with a child, than i would just keep saving until you have the money to do what you want to do. do it once, do it right. cheap, fast, reliable <---- you can only pick two.

besides the sk2 manifold is garbage on N/A H22's. you obviously have ALOT of research ahead of you. oh and before you ask DC headers are garbage. you will have to spend +$800 to find a header that will make good hp gains on preludes.

woo hoo: 2,000 posts!
