Re: Dont know if my engine is type s or stock

Check the registration papers, they will list an engine number. If this number is the same as the one that is stamped on the block where Si Speed posted then it is the original engine.

let us know what you find out. better yet, copy the number on the engine and post it up. then we can tell you what it is.

It is a h22a engine so im guessing its a jdm motor cause i think the original 2000 prelude has a h22a4 engine. Theres also another number i think its the one your talking about but it says 4000159

Yeah that's a pretty good amount of HP over the h22a4 though, takes some good money to get the a4 to where the type-s already is.

Virtually none.
The VAFC helps, but you can't get a real tune due to the ECU. You could get a OBD1 ECU, but then you can't use ATTS.

Re: Dont know if my engine is type s or stock

ya the type s engine has differant cams, pistons, intake, I think throttle body and some other small things. the pistons have a higher compression ratio, I think 10:1 or something around there

Re: Dont know if my engine is type s or stock

Different Intake, throttle body, 11:1 pistons, more aggressive cams, larger header, larger cat, and exhaust. The piping is 2.25" as opposed to 2" for the USDM and the TB is 62mm as opposed to 60mm. Not sure if the Intake manifold is different, if it isn't that would be worth upgrading, Euro Type-R. I also believe the head is polished as well, probably not that aggressively though.
