help, i have a 98 honda prelude in my garage that i have not turned on or driven since 2 years ago. Now that i need to drive it, i just found out that i shouldnt have left it that long without turning on the car to run the engine. Can anyone recommend what i should first do. Do i need to have the engine cleaned out? Is there any sludge build up that would damage the engine?

Re: UNRUN/Unused prelude

If the oil wasn't diarrhea before you it was parked, you should be goodif you just change it, and put in all new fluids including new fuel.
It's not a rotary, and it can sit or a little while. Like said, to be safe, I'd change all fluids from brake to tranny to everything.

Re: UNRUN/Unused prelude

You don't need a new batery just charge it up and when it starts leave it runnin for a min or so, so the alt can charge it then check the bat with a multi meter to see how much volts it's pushin. But id swap that gas out before you start it. I left mine for about a year and completely flushed out the old gas. the radiator was fine and so was the oil.

Re: UNRUN/Unused prelude

even if the oil was new when it was parked doesnt mean its still good oil starts to breakdown after a period of time as which is the reason if u have your oil changed somewhere they have the mileage or the date of your next oil change. change it before u drive it or run it before very long. its just a all around good idea.
