The pull is different. you can actually feel the lsd working. I think you feel a major difference if you drive a car that doesn't have lsd then turning around and driving the same car that has lsd. big difference in launching and low end pull.

There is another code but these are different to one another.
the tranny codes are distinct. I'll advised you to check the tranny codes again. it will be on the top of tranny.

I believe there were only two different trannies used in the 4th gen. Preludes.
Can anybody tell me the exact location of the vss on a 2G prelude

believe a used tranny from the local junk yard should cost you no more than $100 bucks without a core.

Any other questions?
All right. So the only differences between the transmisions are the gear ratios┬┐ Besides that they're all the same┬┐

Clutch disc and flywheels are all interchangeable.

So I guess i am asking what is the unit of measurement or what are these numbers telling me specifically. Please dont just say,"it's the gear ratio man." I can only assume it is a ratio between engine revolution vs wheel revolution. I'm not sure b/c as I said, the numbers are very close yet the gearing is totally different between those two trannys.
old thread ya i know, but u look like u didnt get the answer yet for your question about what a gear ratio is.... Well, u almost answered it in your post :)

3.307 in first gear simply means that the engine turns 3.3 times in order to turn the axle/wheel once.
IT really should look like this for someone new to understand it 3.307:1

Re: Transmission FAQs

Just a little extra info that's missing from this thread:
The JDM SiR 5th gens had the option of having the H23 M2S4 gearbox or the M2T4 LSD box (as said above) in them.

I have to say, from my experience, the M2S4 and H22A are a great combination.

Re: Transmission FAQs

Hey guys new to the forums. I'll be an official Lude owner in a few days. 5spd (auto), '97 .. These posts about '97 trannys (that means 'Transmission' right?) are scaring me, the car was passed down to me by my dad. I want it manual ... I looked around in a 5spd swap thread but it didn't really answer my question, that being: is a tranny even worth swapping? If it costs something like $1000 then I'd say no, but I willing to dish out some decent money to switch to manual.

Thx,

Re: Transmission FAQs

Is it possible to interchange the gears between different tranny's to make something like a frankenstein build cause I saw on a post a while back that some guy was doing that but it didn't seem legit to me and I haven't found any other information on it.

Re: Transmission FAQs

Please help with this issue , I have a 2001 automatic transmission, and it was working good 2days ago , the car was running good turnded it off, and 30 minutes later I turned it back on and notice the battery and break light came up on my cluster but really dim, and I couldn't take it out of parking so I dicided to unlock it by using the relase button next to the shifer, and it worked I shifted into drive and the light that usually comes on when its on d4 did not turned on, but when I shifted to the rest of the gears they all came on normal, ..then I let go of the break and the car did not move at all so I gave it a little gas and it bearly moved flored it and it felt like the transmission was being forced to much and the car did not accelerated like it should , I cant get it to run more than 3,000 rpm. , but still i drove to oreillys the checked the codes and the fuse #14 came up and checked it it was blown and I replaced it put a little bit of automatic transmission oil cuz it needed some , but did not fix the issue please help with any information that can help me to get my car running , so I can go to school Tomorrow, thank you
