Please tell me my clutch hasn't gone out

So I was driving two days ago and the clutch pedal felt really soft and wouldn't engage until it was all the way down and it also wouldn't come all the way back up unless i lifted it with my foot. I tried to drive it yesterday and the clutch wouldn't engage at all and so I couldn't put it into gear. I need help and fast.

Re: Please tell me my clutch hasn't gone out

CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER!! FTW..if you open your hood you should be able to see your clutch slave cylinder attached to the clutch housing - usually the rubber seal tears away and the damn thing dries out then starts to squeak and leak..

FIRST check the clutch fluid resvoir. this same thing happened to me last wednesday. i was soo pissed but it turned out some good ol dot 3 brake fluid was all i needed. but it very well could be your slave. id check fluid first before spending the money on a cylinder though.

the smallest reservoir is the one u want to check the one closer to the drivers side. i dont see a fill line, but i just looked for to see where the water line was and filled it to there. and im not sure about the slave, i always get them mixed up. but if you follow the line from the reservoir you should be able to find it.

Alright, filled it up and I can get it in gear but the pedal still doesn't feel right. What could cause this, slave cylinder? I don't know any thing about the slave cylinder.

Re: Please tell me my clutch hasn't gone out

you gotta properly bleed the clutch lines to rid all the air in the line. just SEARCH around the site, i know this has been discussed plenty of times

Re: Please tell me my clutch hasn't gone out

If you cant find the bleeding procedures in a thread, look a Prelude13 stickies. He has the manuals there (at least for 3rd gens) and those give the complete bleeding procedures, which should be basically the same for all generations. If you have a helper, its easiest, but there are also ways to do it solo. good luck
