color changing guages?!?!

Have you ever seen gauge faces that change color? It sounds kinda lame but its looks pretty cool. This one goes along with the VVTLi of a Corolla XRS. Sorry that there's some racing at the end. It's more like a demonstration of VVTLi but the video gets the idea across. The guage changes color when VVTLi kicks in.

Re: color changing guages?!?!

That video has been edited. It looks cool but it's not real.

I agree with the above poster...a gauge cluster that did that would cause so many accidents not to mention lawsuits and all of the teenage ricers always driving in vvtl or vtak.

Re: color changing guages?!?!

Does anyone remember in the new members section about 3 or 4 months ago there was a guy who had changed all of his dash and accessory lights? He Had it done on his 4th gen, and it looked really nice. I know its kind of off topic but I was wondering where it was at, I wanted to have another look at it.

I actually had the idea to do that before and have them change at redline, but more trouble than I care to do.

i think its easy...isnt there a write up somewhere for a vtec light? i think i saw it some where...and all you have to do is wire that to led strips.

i'm sure its a lot of trouble but having your gauges as a shift light itself seem pretty cool

Re: color changing guages?!?!

a vtec light is easy enough to hook up...take a bulb, connect one side to ground, and the other side to the Green/White wire of the VTEC solenoid. You could easily do this with LEDs if you have proper resistors or leds that are prepared to handle 12V.

As for actually changing the color of the gauges, it would be a bit more tricky, but I have a grand idea i might try tomorrow just for the hell of it, since it wont really cost me any money to try and I'll let you guys know how it works out :)

Re: color changing guages?!?!

wouldn't you just need to have two sets of lights, where it has some type of switch that goes back and forth. or as noted ^ some thing using a darker color to over power the stock white bulbs at the start of vtec

man i need to start fabricating for the lude! have yet to change or improve anything just working on getting all the body parts i need to get her back to greatness
