Silencers

I am having to drive customers around, to lunch golf courses etc. for my new job and my exhaust is too loud/slightly embarrassing. So I basically have two or three choices. 1. I can go back to a stock exhaust. 2. Get the stock muffler or 3. Get a silencer.

I just want some feedback on these three options or if there are any others.

Re: Silencers

honeslty if i were you, its your car i understand customers have different taste but if your using your own car to drive people around thats non of there concern.

anyway, roll up your windows use the AC. and put on the silencer and just throttle with your big toe. it would be like you dont have an exhaust

Re: Silencers

It's not that I care what they think it's more along the lines of what I would think if I were them. I wouldn't be impressed.

Apparently you didn't see my A/C issues post. How much should I expect to spend on getting a silencer installed and how much quieter should it be? I normally shift around 2-3k rpms.

Re: Silencers

The A/C works fine as long as I'm going at a decent speed. It just doesn't work when sitting in traffic or at low speeds.

Re: Silencers

I had a silencer on my integra and it didn't make much of a difference. It just made the high pitch noise go away slightly. It's your car though, don't let others judge it if it's too loud

Re: Silencers

silencers suk, but if you need it for your job, at least you can take it out...

silencer made a big difference on my NOPI N1 style muffler... but I hated it so I went with a resonator instead... that is another option... what is your current setup?... could you add resonator(s), or another muffler "upstream"? vibrant makes some really quiet ones I believe... or for resonators (bigger=better) www.hottexhaust.com

good luck.

Re: Silencers

Since you gotta drive customers around. On one of ur days off, I'd go to a muffler shop, and just have them make u an axle back muffler setup that would bolt right to ur DC cat-back flange, so you can just unbolt ur loud muffler, and bolt on a quieter one.

There should be a flange near the rear tire

Re: Silencers

How much does my CAI affect the sound in my cabin? I remember when I got it about six years ago I noticed it was louder but that was a long time ago.

Re: Silencers

you could add a silencer but it wont do much difference..same with a resonator in the pipe...is the muffler is meant to give power not luxury...than your assed out. you could get a quiter cat back or stock back on.
