STATIC SHOCK

does anyone know how to stop getting static shocks when getting out of the car.. every time i touch the car door i get electrocuted

this has really been getting on my nerves for the past couple of days so i would be grateful for any help!

now i am no science whizz but i know that it may be caused by rubbing clothes and rubbing against the seats and shyt!!. but why has it suddenly started now???

and co-incidentally my amplifier stopped working around about the same time? i checked all my wires and they seem to be ok!

Re: STATIC SHOCK

ya it usually happens when there's nice weather but if you touch the ground before touching the outside of the car it will prevent the shocks, it might look stupid but it works

Re: STATIC SHOCK

Lmfao!

It's probably cause of the weather. With dryer air, you usually get more static.

Re: STATIC SHOCK

lmao - thanks for the suggestions - it hasnt done it today..im presuming its because we have had really nice weather here for the past week or so..im thinking about investing in one of those ebay grounding kits..i heard they are pretty good.

also i found, closing the door by touching the glass only seems to work too.

If you grab metal while your still seated in the car an hold onto it the entire time your getting out usually you won't get shocked.

^^^ I always do that when I'm getting out (touch metal, not medal) and I no longer get shocked, been doing this for about 2 years now.

Re: STATIC SHOCK

Ya could do what a lot of older fuel trucks do and hook a ground strap to the bottom of the car so it drags the ground.

EDIT: On 2nd thought it would look hella gay.

Re: STATIC SHOCK

i finally found out what the problem was!..the live lead which goes from the battery to the amp (the bit which has a big ass fuse in it) was broken and was touching the body of the car.. hence the amp was not working and the current was being passed through the cars body.

thanks for all the suggestions guys!...and girls!
