help identifying 4th gen lude, and price

alright. well, im not old enough to drive yet. but, for about the past 3 years, i keep noticing a 4th gen prelude sitting in a car lot. well today, i asked my dad to take me by there, cause im looking to buy a car. i know it's a 4th gen, but i couldn't see inside, cause the windows were just solid dirt, and i was also kept out by a gate, and inside, 2 rotwilers. i know right? horror movie, 2 rots in a junkyard lol. well, the body is in great condition. the back, however, didn't have any marking besides prelude and the honda logo. i can help id it. it has a sunroof, if that makes a difference. is there anything i can look for that will identify s, si, or vtec? and i was wondering what i should offer for it? i was thinking like starting at $300, and going from there.

thanks, im glad i joined these forums

one way is to look at the rims different packages had different rims. that a place to start other than that go when they are there and look around the car. things to look for. see if it has power windows and locks. pop the hood and check the engine code. it will be located on the passenger side of the block a few inches from the exhaust manifold. sould say f or h series on it followed by numbers. when u find out post what engine code it is. also check seat check for leather or cloth. hope this helps. good luck on getting it. post pics asap!!!

alright. take pictures of the engine bay side of the car interior and rear of the car. also of any damage there might be and we can help with identifying and giving u a maximum price on the car. the one i bought for my wife had those rims it was a 92 si with a h23a1 in it. i payed 350 for it.

rims doesnt really open up possibilities... not until you know either the vin then you can truly identify the car, and then engine for possible engine swaps.. as long as it doesnt have rust then it's good.. since our ludes tend to not have rust as easy.. my mechanic told me that accords and preludes are known to have less rust than the civics.. because of some cheap rubber they used around the wheel wells in civics

We have that same rubber actually, which is why we all get QP rust. 5th gens are the ones that don't rust as easily...4th gens rust around the rear wheel wells, sunroof, and on the trunk behind the "prelude" emblem. but anyway,

Re: help identifying 4th gen lude, and price

Just get the first 6 digits of the VIN and that will tell you.

JHMBB1 = VTEC
JHMBB2 = Si
JHMBA8 = S
