Raising the redline

So... from what I've read, balancing the rotating assembly will raise the redline of an engine, I know a machine shop can balance a crank, but do you buy pre balanced rods/pistons? or is that something a machine shop also does?

Sorry if there is already a thread covering this, my search function isn't working

Re: Raising the redline

i hope you know the pointlessness of raising the redline with out increasing the power past stock redline. stock cams won't really give you power past stock redline. i haven't seen blake on in a while, he'd probably be one of the better ones to ask.

Re: Raising the redline

It's fine like it is. Upgrade the head and then raise the redline, otherwise, you'll **** some **** up and you don't wanna appear like some of the morons around here who remove their rev limiter, thinking they are making power up there and blow up their gay Saturns and Taurus's.

Re: Raising the redline

you guys aren't understanding, that if he's talking about getting machine work done to the motor (aka balancing the bottom end) then its a prettttyyyyy safe assumption that the entire motor is getting built. (marshall, don't make me eat my words!!)

so if the motor is built and designed (built and balanced bottom end, upgraded valvetrain, etc) to make power beyond STOCK redline, then there's nothing wrong with that.

D and blake are prime examples.
