Start Button?

I was considering putting in a s2000 start button in my prelude. Is it possible in a 01 automatic?

anything is possible, just depends on how much money you want to spend.

Re: Start Button?

well what im thinking is that you need to cut a hole to fit the button on first.
then you need to figure out a way that where the button is connected to the ignition
along with a power source to make the button illuminate.

then you need to find out some way that how the key turns on power to the button
so the button could be pressed to start the ignition.

then there is a shortcut, making your car start without a key, but then agian it would be easier to steal.

IMO-pretty cool idea, but why need it?

Re: Start Button?

okay.... putting the s2000 button is easy. like said already ^ you need to figure out the placement.
then... wiring: the input wire to one side of your button is going to be a line spliced into your ignition wire from your main harness. black w/ a yellow stripe. (these wires go to the key cylinder) then on the output side of your button your going to splice into your starter wire black w/ white stripe.

an s2000 you have turn the key to the on position the push the button to start. you cant just push the button to start it ... that would be scary dangerous and it wouldnt allow you to keep your ignition on. you obviously need your ignition to stay on while the car is running to keep your fuel pump/sensors/ecu/heat/radio on. good luck and if you do it take pics and do a write up.

Re: Start Button?

Why even do it?

If you still have to have the key in the ignition whats wrong with just turning it a little more over pushing a button?

IMO a waist of time and money that can be spent on something better

Yea it would be cool and all but something I would never do

Re: Start Button?

Yes it can be done, there's a writeup on PreludeOnline for it. I'll find it later.

Re: Start Button?

Hey sorry i didnt reply faster. I just wanted to do it for looks and it costs no more than 100$ for the button and wires. I seen some write ups for manual cars but i cant find one for a auto prelude.

Brash22 if you find a write up post it up, thanx
