Underbody Cover?

Does any company make a underbody cover for the 5th gen? It improves the aerodynamics and thus performance and fuel efficiency.

Re: Underbody Cover?

You could make one. Take some sheet metal, or lay up some carbon fiber, and make some brackets, Vala. you have a diffuser.

Re: Underbody Cover?

it would hafta be custom, but i don't think it would really serve a purpose on a daily driver. you mainly see them on: F1 cars, bugatti's, lambo's, ferrari's..... aka, FAST cars. thats when the effects of aerodynamics start playing a role, not at 50mph on the street.

Re: Underbody Cover?

what he was saying that doin aero work on a dd is pointless cause you never get fast enough for them to work. and when someone puts a huge spoiler on a dd car its called rice hahaha. leave the huge spoilers to the racers.

Re: Underbody Cover?

I've seen them retrofitted onto Ludes from other cars, no idea which though.

Re: Underbody Cover?

Ofcourse it would have an effect. Go for a drive at 60 mph and stick your hand out the window, how many pounds of force is that? How many little pockets are there underneath our cars that will make similar wind resistance? Even at normal highway speeds you might reduce the amount of resistance by 100lbs or more. I think the best way to find out is to make it and use a scangauge to see if you use any less fuel.

It obviously won't be as effective as on super cars, but if you are looking for something unique I think it is a great idea.

Re: Underbody Cover?

yeah but what im getting at is for the price why even at 60 it would have a huge affect. yeah you will get better gas milage but not enough to notice or even be worth it. the only thing good it would do on a dd is for looks or if your car is hella lowered tio keep it from stratching the bottom. if you want noticable gas milage improvement rethink how you drive you dont have to pay for that.
