Black particles

I know I saw this in a video of someone showing off their new exhaust, but cant remember for the life of me what thread that was from, and I tried searching for "black stuff" lol.

Moral of the story though, I noticed on a handicap sign I have on the floor of my garage behind my car, it has lots of black particles on it. Yesterday when putting something in my trunk I noticed it on my tail lights too.

What can be causing this? I know I need a new o2 sensor b4 the cat.

Re: Black particles

The black stuff is carbon, and it is essentially fuel smoke. It happens when the engine runs rich. Rich is the factory tune on the H22, (rich on low cam, very rich on the high cam) so a little black smoke really isn't anything to be alarmed at.

Re: Black particles

you would notice alot more of it if your car wasnt black. you will see more of this the more you are in VTEC, but hey better rich than lean.
