Re: alternator question

:update: i put the old one on, went back to test it and it did the exact same thing! so put your thinking cap on and help me please. the only thing i've done to the car is delete the power steering belt and tensioner and an a/c belt delete. sooo nothing electrical. the autozone guy thought it could be a connection on the battery terminals or ground to the chasis but i'm pretty positive they are ok

:edit: so i did a little test and started the car and took the negative battery terminal off. the car still ran but there was massive engine noise comming from the speakers. sooooo if the alternator wasnt grounded?? would that have an affect?

Re: alternator question

if you put this in general talk, it would help if you tell us what year/engine you have

since i'm pretty sure you have a 3rd gen, idk if its the same as 4th gens but the same belt runs both of our power steering AND alternator.

and since you took the belt off.......

1. one belt goes crank-a/c-alternator. the other belt goes crank-ps. i know this because i took two seconds to look at it.

2. the topic is why wouldnt an alternator be putting out amps but my car still be able to run with the battery unplugged.
