my car needs a doctor :(

K so here's the problem...

basically about a third of the time when i'm driving and i reach 80 km or more my car will shake, the steering wheel shakes quite violently and it gets hard to accelerate beyond that point. Also when I'm on the throttle i can hear a kind of knockin but once i release the pedal it goes away. As i slow down just before the car stops at a light the brakes kind of grab. Once I stop for a few seconds or whatever it usually goes away but I was wondering what possible causes are I'm thinking: brakes, alignment, anything else?

thoughts will be greatly appreciated thanks.

Re: my car needs a doctor :(

^^ then it would shake all the time
No u cant check alignment without machines
Does it shake at 80 even when ur not accelerating
I think a bolt or something is lose on the engine or the engine itself is lose somehow or a belt or something that connects your engine to the tires
anything els u can think of to narrow it down?

Re: my car needs a doctor :(

Sounds like some combination of: axles, driveshaft, CV shafts. Just my $.02.

Re: my car needs a doctor :(

Dr R8GYY is here!! lol

x2..i think its several problems,
1) your car tyres need balancing and alignment.
2) check your wheel nuts incase they are loose.
3) IMO your radius rod or stabiliser arm bushes could be worn causing the constant knocking
4) cv joints only knock when u turn the wheels unless they are completly gone.
5) get your engine mountings checked out. (front and rear)
6) if it happens a lot when u apply pressure on the brake pedal you have warped discs / pads.

let us know how u get on.

i have warped rotors and they dont shake all the time only when i press the brake..the warpage might not be enough to shake when the brakes arent pressed

Re: my car needs a doctor :(

definitely sounds to me like an unbalanced half-shaft. You should also check for play in your tie-rods and make sure you're wheels are properly balanced. As for the knock, I would assume that to be a different problem entirely. It could be a lifter or a rocker arm that needs to be adjusted. If there is too much clearance it will tend to knock, especially at higher RPM
