Re: E85

Yeah, I'm hoping to use it to run higher compression. I'm hoping to use my spare block to build an engine that's about 12:1 static CR, and then rebuild the engine in my car now with 13:1 to 14:1 static CR. E85 would be perfect for this.

Thankfully, I found an article that describes how to convert a Honda to an external fuel pump using the OEM tank. Other than that, I'm trying to figure out where to mount the filter (5Gen) and what kind of lines to run.

Re: E85

Redo the hole fuel system with bigger E85 safe stuff and a new tune. Im sure with what you have done it wont be much to do it. The big thing tho is that a tank of fuel will not last you the same. Say you get about 200 miles to a tank with gas you would get about 140 miles with E85. Not to sure what the rules are with what you race but might need to think about that part.

Re: E85

Sprint races are generally 20 to 40 minutes, so E85 wouldn't be a problem there. For endurance races, there could be an issue. With current NASA enduro rules you can only put in 10 gallons per pit stop. We figured that with regular gas, 10 gallons would last us about an hour, so a 4 hour enduro would require 3 stops. With E85, 10 gallons wouldn't last an hour, so that's an additional consideration. I won't be doing any eduros this year, but maybe in the future. It certainly is something to take into consideration.

As for E85 safe items, I was thinking of using stainless hard fuel line (unless I reuse the stock lines), Aeroquip Startlite hose, steel or anodized aluminum fittings, either the 430 cc/min RDX injectors I'm using now, or 1000 cc/min Injector Dynamics injectors, Bosch fuel pump, and Canton Mecca fuel filter.

Its Cheaper to just run good 'ol Gasoline even though e-85 is cleaner and it is better for the environment.

Re: E85

I'm not running it for the cost savings. I'm doing it for the octane rating, so that I can run a high static CR without having to use $7 per gallon race gas.

Re: E85

E85 about 110 octane right? Over regular gas it cost more but compared to race gas is saves a lot.
