Help??? out of gas and then some!!!

Ok so last night i was going to practice and i did not want to be late so i did not stop to get gas. I got there with no problem. But when it came time to leave the car started and 2 seconds later it ran out of gas....
I got a friend to bring me some gas. Put it in and it did not start. Got more gas and tried it again did not start.... Cleaned the spark plugs got octane booster and tried starting it... nothing again... so far we have tried to push start it and cleaned spark plugs about 15 times
The gas that i first put in the car was a little bit old.....
What should i do!?!?!

Batter is perfect
we came up with taking the fuel pump out and pumping everything out of the car untill its dry then putting good gas in
Any 1 have any better ideas?

you might mess up your fuel pump that way.....i dont have my manual wt me right now but i think by putting in old gasoline you might of messt up your fuel pump....ooor by letting it completely run out.....im just guessing, i dont have my manual wt me to double check

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Can_you_mi...h_new_gasoline
"Also stored gas can collect particulate matter, rust, dirt, etc., which can clog fuel lines, filters, and can harm both carburators or fuel injectors. Old gas also creates what is called "gumming" or "varnish" which will cause clogging and sticking within carburators or fuel injectors regardless of ignitability. If this problem occurs you might be faced with a carb rebuild and or injector servicing which can become costly. "

http://autos.aol.com/article/general...03144909990001
"But in fact, gasoline can degrade over time. That can lead to a number of problems, ranging from hard starting, to rough running, to no starting at all."
A More Serious Problem: Oxidation
"Removing these deposits can be expensive and your vehicle may not run at all or run very poorly until they are removed."

pretty much man.........HOW OLD/DIRTY WAS THIS GASOLINE U PUT IN UR LUDE?????

frm what ive read seems like thats what messt up ur fuel lines/pump/injectors.......but if you mixed it with good gasoline.....idk man you might try siphoning all of that gasoline out as much as u can and filling it up with good premium lol

Re: Help??? out of gas and then some!!!

Ya you may have blown your fuse if your lucky thats all it is but whenever you let your gas level drop to when the light comes on the fuel pump is having to work alot harder and is very hard on the pump. Seeing as you let it run out of gas complelty may have blown your fuel pump. easy to install but depends on where you buy your pump but roughly its gonna be about 200 but dont quote me im just stating but i can buy them for on this one site.

another thing that might be the issue, this happened to me on my first car ( 93 pontiac grand am ) is that its normal to have crap in your tank, when you let the fuel level get that low, youre gonna start suckin that stuff up. clogged my fuel filter. just a thought.

Re: Help??? out of gas and then some!!!

^^^good though. it is not good at all to run your tank to empty for that reason...it is possible that you could have burned out the pump if it ran dry. can you hear it prime when you turn the key to the on position

Re: Help??? out of gas and then some!!!

The fuel was realllllllllly old. I didn't know it could mess up and my friend didn't know it was old.
Ok so its not a fuse and the fuel pump is fine. I put in fresh gas and before drying out the car we decided to check the plugs. We found that the plugs will not spark... The wires do not ark when putting them next to metal. My 2 mechanically inclined friends believe its the distributor cap and/or distributor. So tomorrow im going to go out and buy new plugs, new wires and a new cap.
Any one els have any other idea what could mess with the cap like that?
FINGERS CROSSED!!!! But for now its the yellow bus :(
Thanks to every 1 for the heLP!!!

Maybe the battery was the problem or the starter.

Re: Help??? out of gas and then some!!!

I changed the cap, wires, rotor and plugs to finally get a spark. After 9 straight hours of working i have a spark. Now i have to see why it will still not start. going to try to dump all the gas out and check the filter.
The guys at advance know me by name now.... kinda sad
Thanks for the info guys
hopefully tomorrow after school i can get it to work. still on the yellow bus :(

Re: Help??? out of gas and then some!!!

Ok i still cant figure this out, its been 4 days of working on it for hours on end!
There is spark, new wires, new plugs, new distributor carp, new distributor rotter, i dumped all the fuel out of the car, put fresh gas in it, there is fuel in the rail, battery is still good for now
Why will the engine not start?!?!
im going to put a video up of trying to start it in a few minutes
how much do you guys think a Honda dealership will charge me to tell me what is wrong with it?

Re: Help??? out of gas and then some!!!

Is the pump priming when you first turn the key? When you turn the key you'll hear a quiet mechanical whine sound from behind you, you have to listen to it. If you don't hear the pump check the fuses.

Check your fuel filter, its possible like they said that since you ran the tank down it sucked up stuff from the bottom of the tank and just clogged it so badly that it constricts 95% of the fuel flow.

Re: Help??? out of gas and then some!!!

yes the fuel pump works.
I emptied the tank by turning the key about 30 times and letting in go out the removable cap on the fuel rail
I JUST checked the plugs again and they are not sparking. The wire going into the cap sparks but the wires coming out of the cap do not wth!! this is pissing me off!
