Re: Kiss the S2000 Good-Bye!

If only. But the problem here is (As much as I hate saying it) The economy. They only sold a little under 3,000 S2Ks last year. Thats also part of the reason why they cancelled the new NSX. I would love a new equivilent to the Lude though.

Re: Kiss the S2000 Good-Bye!

true..but look at it this way..VW brought the scirroco back after ten odd years so i envisage that some time in the future honda will most likely bring back on of their most loved sports cars..i was driving around today and i saw 4 other ludes in the space of 1 hour. 6 months ago the chances of that happening were damn near nil. People are starting to take notice of preludes and more and more people are starting to realise how good they are and actually buying them..i feel like im an inspiration to those people who may have seen my car and said 'I want one of those'

I wonder what they will make to fill the "sports car" slot or will they even fill it. Would love to see a lude type car be made again or even a redone civic with a 3 door hatch model.

The new-ish CRX concept they had at an autoshow a while ago...Like the CR-Z or something like that. Let's hope they don't bring back the Del Slow

^^^^ truth!! my friend got his first project car which was of course a civic dx.. prev owned jacked it up.. but once he saw my 4th gen, he loved the look so much he decided a lude was for him! he found a 5th gen for 3900 with 174K miles on it.. nice green/silver (cant remember color code) but it came with a factory lip kit i was like wow man what an upgrade.. since he got 2800 for the civic.. he paid roughly 1k for his lude.. anyone else jealous!

Re: Kiss the S2000 Good-Bye!

A Prelude, RSX, or something similar with 200 whp and 25+ mpg and stickered at under $25,000 would sell. Nothing extravagant like twin-turbo v6 and AWD. Just something sporty, good power, and good fuel economy, at a reasonable price.
If they can sell Accords at the price they do with all the extra things that go into those, I know they can make a reasonable sporty car.

Re: Kiss the S2000 Good-Bye!

^ yeah and ONLY in showrooms at almost 40gs!! Haha! What a joke!

The Civic si is pretty much the Prelude slot. They need to make a performance coupe with room. Oh wait, they do. 08 Accord coupe. That car is BAD!! But again 40gs. The Si is where its going to be. They would have to sell a ton of the new model to justify it. The MILLIONS of dollars required to R&D a prototype is insane and THEN put it to production it would tap them in an already declining industry. That's why GM, Chrysler are failing. 75 models of cars is too much. Thabs why Subaru, Honda, Toyota are still alive and kicking. Especially Subaru. 1 drivetrain platform and what 4 or 5 bodystyles. Genius! You can't make a niche car unless everyone and their dog will buy one. And I don't know about you guys but here we are Prelude enthusiests! If they came out with a new lude, who here would REALLY pony up the almost 1000 dollars a month for just pmt and insurance. Mayyybe 2-5%. We'd all like to see it but were SOL.

Re: Kiss the S2000 Good-Bye!

Kinda boring conversation here. wanna lude, get the tsx (same kind of money) or a v6 accord coupe. thats it. if honda could make a del-slow and make it MR(Like the racing edition in Gran Turismo 1) and keep it around 28, yeah that could work. But were talking about a company that literally, have only 2 cars(2 trim levels) 1 truck(same chassis as suv) and a minivan. the element and crv are there for econobox/moving purposes.(s2000 shoulda been acura)

Toyota is rocking like 23 models. anyway they coulda doe more with the element sc chassis and made a prelude out of it, i guess...

no, the mugen civic was a total joke, it should never have even been made. I meant more in the way of performance. LIke from the factory intakes, exhaust that actually yield hp gains over stock, maybe even working in the turbo they have on the RDX. Something with balls, not that overpriced mugen civic. si's are selling strong, especialy cause it's the new midlife crisis car.

1st acura is only in the us, why would honda waste money to rebadge the
S2k an acura when it is honda everywhere else and was designed to replace the del-sol.

and so your saying that toyota has 23 models...that makes them better?'

give it time, they will come out with something new. hell they killed the insight off last year and they are already bringing it back as a new model to compete with the prius more.

just relax, enjoy your prelude and wait.

Re: Kiss the S2000 Good-Bye!

the 23 toyota models was in response to me saying they didn't have a ton of models....I think.

I don't think well be seeing much along the way of "cool" cars. Fuel and sticker price economy will be the biggest issue. Things will hopefully turn around and people will be back to frivelous spending.

This means S2000 resell will skyrocket because everyone will try to get their hands on them before there gone. My choice this summer is a 300zx or TRY to find a good deal on a s2000

honda just needs to stop bullskitching and hop on the RWD wagon, its kinda redickulous when everyone else in the market is stomping honda with their RWD. And all the new honda models this year are fukboy looking. Including the new Acuraas, why would you put a Crome Bird Beek on the front of your entire lineup????

Re: Kiss the S2000 Good-Bye!

I think it will be a while before Honda/Acura releases a really good new tuner car just because of the world economy and the hit that auto manufacturers are taking right now. I am betting they are worried more about making a good profit by selling practical cars than focusing on what their customers will want. I am still hoping for a 6th gen lude myself but who knows...could be 10 years before we are blessed with such a car...

if they make a 6th gen lude im selling mine before there sold. our cars are going to depreciate like CRAZYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

plus since everyone is going to recognize the prelude again the old models 5-2nd or 3rd gens are going to be roaming all over the place.

Re: Kiss the S2000 Good-Bye!

Whatever, you guys are missing the bigger picture. In two years, the 370Z comes out, and that means I can get a 350Z for like 20K tops.
It also means that Honda's going to have to answer the door to Nissan, because they're releasing a mega fast car for mega little bux.
I wouldn't be surprised at a revamp of the S2K, but honestly, our Preludes don't meet the safety standards Honda puts up these days, so if they release another one, it'll either A:Be ruined, slow, and boring, or B:Be ****ing huge like the new Accord is.

I think if we wait two more years with our preludes, sitting happily by while all the daddy's boy assholes cruise around in their new birdy TLs and RSXs and G37s, Honda will redeem themselves.

and so your saying that toyota has 23 models...that makes them better?'

give it time, they will come out with something new. hell they killed the insight off last year and they are already bringing it back as a new model to compete with the prius more.

just relax, enjoy your prelude and wait.
You missed the whole point i was making.
1. selling the sk2 as an acura right off the bat would make more sense. true they sold like hotcakes as hondas, but they coulda had parts from spoon, mugen, and veilside from the dealer with no prob; and people would have still bought it.(turbos from greddy, i mean the "A" badge really makes the difference.

2.Honda sells as much as toyota with half the fleet of vehicles, not including acura vs lexus. and right now honda doesnt have the current problem of lots full of new cars having fluids settling in the bottoms of thier resovoirs.

3.Mugen civic is garbage. unless they put in a tsx block with tranny and spec 1 (or spec A) parts, you're wasting time with the body kit and "progressive spring rate that are only 15% better than the SI... Go buy a SI, swap a TSX block in, then get racing coilovers front and back...

4. And making an argument out of my posts are moot. All I do is search and look and read up on cars and unless the car offers sexual favors, Not really attention grabbing. Now since comptech parts are supported and installed by a majority of honda/acura dealerships, an SC'd SK2 would be sweet... and warrantied... Besides at the time of my last post, it was like three years ago... seriously.
