red rear indicators???

Is it true that most cars in the USA come with red rear indicators??

I thought my tail lights were wired up wrong but it turns out there are aftermarket parts from america.

I never bought them or fitted them but I have found the same lights on ebay:

Would it be possible to make the red indicator section amber??

I think red indicators are illegal in the UK and Ireland.

Re: red rear indicators???

I dont know about MOST cars in america having red indicators... but quite a lot do.
To use those tail housings AND have amber indicators... I think your only option is to open them up, pop out the red lens and replace it with either an amber or clear one. You would have to custom make the lens. I think the easier of the two would be to make a clear lens and use an amber bulb.

For the lens material... cut a circle out of a florescent light cover (sytrene I think is what they are made of)

But the easiest way would be to go back to stock tails.... which everyone on is here is going to tell you do to anyways.

Stock looks wack!!

I'll have to buy a set from a scrap yard to put in just while I find a lens for the current lights.

Re: red rear indicators???

It just has to be red or amber in the US.
No blue, green, red, etc.

Re: red rear indicators???

BANG!!

Sorted the problem..

I'm installing green bulbs, when they shine through the red housing the colour is an orange/yellow making my indicators legal in the UK.

<Genius...

Got the idea form this:

http://www.lightwave.soton.ac.uk/exp...vacolours.html

Click the red and the green levers..

Re: red rear indicators???

you might wanna try it on your stock tails before you buy the other ones, i dont think it will work for some reason, but hey it might.

Re: red rear indicators???

I don't have stock tails... dude before installed the aftermarket's but he is from Poland and didn't know you couldn't have red turning signals.

Ordered a green bulb off eBay for 1, and if it works I'll grab some super bright hyper greens from autolumation
