Got my header, getting ready to get the lude smogged need quick answers plz...

Yo its your boy silky $m0oth, and I finally got my stock header(thanks Mr.y82)and I am swapping out the dc header tomarow to get ready for smog certification here in cali. So I have a couple quick questions, first do I need a new gasket to install the stock header? Second does anyone know what exactly our h22's need to idle at, I want to set the timing right so it will pass. Also I heard its good to do an oil change right before smog is this true? Thanks, and good day!

Re: Got my header, getting ready to get the lude smogged need quick answers plz...

chances are when u take ur old header off the gasket is gonna be worn due to the amount of heat the header produces so yes u will need a new gasket

Dude you can run any oil you want.
In winter I'm running 0w40 from royal purple.
Cold temperature lubrication for the win.

But, when I use 10w40 in the summer I burn a little less, so it's really up to you.

Royal purple also makes a 0w0 which is fun for about half an hour, until you seize :D

Re: Got my header, getting ready to get the lude smogged need quick answers plz...

I would stick with 5w30 or 10w30 unless you have a serious consumption issue... Royal purple is good stuff; I use it, but it would be fine to use mobile 1 or something else cheaper... You will prob. need to change that gasket... maybe you can reuse the new one if you put the dc header back on soon?

Glad the header got there intact... hope you enjoyed all the duct tape, lol.

Don't forget to give me a rating for a good sale! I'm looking forward to the new speakers when you get them out.

Good luck!

^he's right.. and I would go ahead and get a new gasket and some spark plugs. idk how they do emmisions/smog or whatever over there in califinway but I just get new plugs and change my oil and I'm able to pass emissions with a sc'd jdm h22 in georgia

Re: Got my header, getting ready to get the lude smogged need quick answers plz...

Yeah, like everyones said so far, oil change before and oil cleaner stuff.
My h22 idles straight at 1000 RPM too, so I'm gonna say standard idle is 1000rpm.
My rolling Idle RPM is 1400-1600 though, dono why.
I run w10-40 oil, good for hot cali summers and good enough for "cold" days here.

Mine idles at 500-600 ish...

edit: Helms ftw. Hit it on the head. And it will idle differently based on headlights and other electronics
