JDM engine oil question?

ok.. so i'm dropping in my JDM engine pretty soon.. i'll have my old head that has been ported and polished. i've always used mobile 1 full synth.

i have no idea what the JDM had running through it.. am i going to fc_uk it up if i put full synthetic in it right away or do i some how slowly make the shift? i swear i read somewhere it is bad to swap strait over.. but i don't know if i'm just thinking i heard it cause i thought it sounded right or what.. anyone?? lol

sorry if this is a repeat post.. i looked around a bit.. but not overly hard

Re: JDM engine oil question?

it should be in the shop manual, the one i have recommends two different oils, i guess for temp and location. (im pretty sure JDM oil is a rice based synthetic) lol

Re: JDM engine oil question?

you should be just fine running full synthetic but i would replace all the seals (if you have the money) before putting the new engine in because they will be hard and old from sitting and not having oil keeping them soft and lubed up...

Re: JDM engine oil question?

Personally I"d run a "cheap" (not wal-mart brand, just not top shelf stuff) for a week or so doing a lot of low load driving, then change the oil and filter. Just to make sure that any nasties that might possibly be in the engine are filtered out. It's probably overkill to be perfectly honest, but I'd do it anyway.
