Re: lets talk brake pads

i got EBC green's (i think) in the front, and no name pads in the rear, which just recently got replaced by autozone pads, so the EBC's in the front outlasted the brand new rear pads, so take that as you will. and yes i auto-x and drag my car.

+ brembo blanks.

brake fade isn't as much of an issue in auto-x'ing as road racing since you are not on the brake for as long, as severe, and at extreme speeds, but you will most def notice the diff in braking power over stock, no doubt.

Re: lets talk brake pads

You should look into upgrading to the VTEC front brakes. That extra 0.8" makes a difference. I did that along with SS lines and new fluid and has been stopping great for years now. I got Hawk HPS pads and they're ok. They dust pretty bad though. Also, I had a problem with the shims sliding off and ended up tossing them

Re: lets talk brake pads

I run Brembo D/S Rotors with Hawk HP+ pads and they will stand up to a lot of abuse. Enough to make passengers nauseus when you slam on the brakes at 80+ mph.

Re: lets talk brake pads

Audible squealing is a built in indicator that means "It's time to replace some ****." If the pads are pretty new, then yeah, sounds like it's time for machined/new rotors.

Re: lets talk brake pads

I opted for the Duralast Gold carbon metallic pads...I havent ever had any problems with them. they cut down on brake dust too...so thats a big plus. Never really raced the car on a track or whatnot, but i do know that when someone stops short in front of me...I have no problem stopping at all...

Re: lets talk brake pads

im runnin the duralast gold rotors and duralast gold ceramic front pads. great stuff. i have been to the dragon a couple of times, driving it pretty hard into the turns, on them and the rotors have yet to warp. the pads are also nice very low dust. my friend has drilled and slotted baer rotors with some kind of performance pad on his teg and his brakes always start stinkin before mine do.
